Should You Add Thyme?

We always advocate adding herbs to your dogs food for many reasons, but did you know how beneficial thyme is, and why you really should add herbs to every meal?

Dr. Becker wrote an article recently about the benefits of thyme:

  • Anti-inflammatory

  • Antispasmodic

  • Anthelmintic

  • Antimicrobial

  • Antiparasitic

The leaves, fresh or dried, also contain potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, selenium, and even manganese.

So, what does this mean for your dog? Adding thyme to your dog's meals can control worms and giardia because thyme contains thymol. Thymol acts as an oral antiseptic that fights bad breath and gingivitis. Thymol is a fungicidal and bactericidal that can help control yeast infections too! This means yeast infections in ears and skin can benefit from the inside out by adding thyme to meals.

Dr. Becker also recommends adding fresh garlic (already contained in every Napa Fresh recipe), parsley, and oregano to meals for even more protection against yeast.

Napa Fresh Summer Herbs is a combination of Summer Savory, Thyme and Parsley and can be added to all recipes. Even though our seasonal special recipes contain herbs, you can certainly add a bit more to each meal.

Herbs, particularly thyme, are beneficial, healthy, and flavorful. They are a fabulous addition to your dog's meals.
